BNV : প্রায একমাস পর অম্মোনদের রাজা নাহশ তার সৈন্যসামন্ত নিয়ে যাবেশ গিলিয়দ ঘিরে ফেলল| যাবেশের লোকেরা নাহশকে বলল, “যদি আমাদের সঙ্গে তুমি একটি শান্তি চুক্তি কর তাহলে আমরা তোমার সেবা করব|”
KJV : Then Nahash the Ammonite came up, and encamped against Jabesh-gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said unto Nahash, Make a covenant with us, and we will serve thee.
YLT : And Nahash the Ammonite cometh up, and encampeth against Jabesh-Gilead, and all the men of Jabesh say unto Nahash, `Make with us a covenant, and we serve thee.`

ERVEN : About a month later, Nahash the Ammonite and his army surrounded Jabesh Gilead. All the people of Jabesh said to Nahash, "If you will make a treaty with us, we will serve you."

BNV : নাহশ বলল, “তোমাদের প্রত্যেকের ডান চোখ যদি উপড়ে নিয়ে নিতে পারি তাহলেই তোমাদের সঙ্গে চুক্তি করতে পারি| তবেই সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়রা লজ্জা পাবে!”
KJV : And Nahash the Ammonite answered them, On this [condition] will I make [a covenant] with you, that I may thrust out all your right eyes, and lay it [for] a reproach upon all Israel.
YLT : And Nahash the Ammonite saith unto them, `For this I covenant with you, by picking out to you every right eye -- and I have put it a reproach on all Israel.`
RV : And Nahash the Ammonite said unto them, On this condition will I make it with you, that all your right eyes be put out; and I will lay it for a reproach upon all Israel.
RSV : But Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "On this condition I will make a treaty with you, that I gouge out all your right eyes, and thus put disgrace upon all Israel."

ERVEN : But he answered, "I will make a treaty with you people only if I can poke out the right eye of each person. Then all Israel will be ashamed."

BNV : যাবেশের নেতারা বলল, “সাতদিন সময় দাও| সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলে আমরা দূত পাঠাব| যদি কেউ সাহায্য করতে না আসে তাহলে আমরা তোমার কাছে এসে আত্মসমর্পণ করব|”
KJV : And the elders of Jabesh said unto him, Give us seven days respite, that we may send messengers unto all the coasts of Israel: and then, if [there be] no man to save us, we will come out to thee.
YLT : And the elders of Jabesh say to him, `Let us alone seven days, and we send messengers into all the border of Israel: and if there is none saving us -- then we have come out unto thee.`

ERVEN : The leaders of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Let us have seven days. We will send messengers through all Israel. If no one comes to help us, we will come up to you and surrender to you."

BNV : বার্তাবাহকরা গিবিয়ায় এল; সেখানেই শৌল থাকত| তারা লোকদের খবরটি জানালে লোকরা কেঁদে উঠল|

KJV : And, behold, Saul came after the herd out of the field; and Saul said, What [aileth] the people that they weep? And they told him the tidings of the men of Jabesh.
YLT : and lo, Saul hath come after the herd out of the field, and Saul saith, `What -- to the people, that they weep?` and they recount to him the words of the men of Jabesh.
RV : And, behold, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, What aileth the people that they weep? And they told him the words of the men of Jabesh.

ESV : Now, behold, Saul was coming from the field behind the oxen. And Saul said, "What is wrong with the people, that they are weeping?" So they told him the news of the men of Jabesh.
ERVEN : Saul had been out in the field with his oxen. When he came in from the field he heard the people crying and asked, "What's wrong with the people? Why are they crying?" Then the people told Saul what the messengers from Jabesh said.

BNV : শৌল সব শুনল| তারপর ঈশ্বরের আত্মা সবলে তার ওপর এল| সে খুব রেগে গেল|
KJV : And the Spirit of God came upon Saul when he heard those tidings, and his anger was kindled greatly.

BNV : এক জোড়া বলদ নিয়ে সে তাদের কেটে টুকরো টুকরো করল| তারপর সে বার্তাবাহকদের হাতে সেই বলদের টুকরোগুলো দিয়ে তাদের সেই টুকরোগুলি নিয়ে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলে ঘুরতে বলল| ইস্রাযেলবাসীদের কাছে বার্তাবাহকরা কি বলবে তাও সে বলে দিল| এই ছিল তার বাণী: “তোমরা সকলে শৌল এবং শমূয়েলকে অনুসরণ কর| যদি কেউ তাদের সাহায্য না করে তবে তাদের বলদের অবস্থা হবে এই টুকরোর মতো!”লোকদের মনে প্রভুর প্রতি মহা ভয় এলো এবং তারা সবাই মিলে একটি মানুষের একতা নিয়ে বের হয়ে এল|
KJV : And he took a yoke of oxen, and hewed them in pieces, and sent [them] throughout all the coasts of Israel by the hands of messengers, saying, Whosoever cometh not forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done unto his oxen. And the fear of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out with one consent.
YLT : and he taketh a couple of oxen, and cutteth them in pieces, and sendeth through all the border of Israel, by the hand of the messengers, saying, `He who is not coming out after Saul and after Samuel -- thus it is done to his oxen;` and the fear of Jehovah falleth on the people, and they come out as one man.

ERVEN : He took a pair of oxen and cut them in pieces. Then he gave the pieces of the oxen to messengers. He ordered the messengers to carry the pieces throughout the land of Israel. He told them to give this message to the Israelites: "Come follow Saul and Samuel. If anyone doesn't come and help them, this same thing will happen to his oxen." A great fear from the Lord came on the people. They all came together like one person.

ERVEN : Saul gathered the men together at Bezek. There were 300,000 men from Israel and 30,000 men from Judah.

ERVEN : Saul and his army told the messengers from Jabesh, "Tell the people at Jabesh in Gilead that by noon tomorrow, you will be saved." The messengers told Saul's message to the people at Jabesh, and they were very happy.

BNV : পরদিন সকালে শৌল তাঁর সৈন্যদের তিনটে দলে ভাগ করলেন| সূর্য় উঠলে শৌল সসৈন্যে অম্মোনদের শিবির আক্রমণ করল| সেই সময় ওদের প্রহরীরা পালাবদল করছিল| দুপুরের আগেই শৌল অম্মোনদের পরাজিত করল| অম্মোন সৈন্যরা ছত্রভঙ্গ হয়ে যে যেদিকে পারল পালিয়ে গেল| সবাই একা হয়ে ছড়িয়ে ছিটিয়ে গেল|
KJV : And it was [so] on the morrow, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the host in the morning watch, and slew the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it came to pass, that they which remained were scattered, so that two of them were not left together.
YLT : And it cometh to pass, on the morrow, that Saul putteth the people in three detachments, and they come into the midst of the camp in the morning-watch, and smite Ammon till the heat of the day; and it cometh to pass that those left are scattered, and there have not been left of them two together.

ERVEN : The next morning Saul separated his soldiers into three groups. At sunrise, Saul and his soldiers entered the Ammonite camp. Saul attacked while they were changing guards that morning. He and his soldiers defeated the Ammonites before noon. The Ammonite soldiers all ran away in different directions—no two soldiers stayed together.

BNV : তারপর লোকরা শমূয়েলকে বলল, “কোথায় গেল সেইসব লোক যারা বলেছিল শৌলকে রাজা হিসেবে আমরা চাই না? তাদের ডেকে নিয়ে এসো, আমরা তাদের হত্যা করব!”
KJV : And the people said unto Samuel, Who [is] he that said, Shall Saul reign over us? bring the men, that we may put them to death.
YLT : And the people say unto Samuel, `Who is he that saith, Saul doth reign over us! give ye up the men, and we put them to death.`

BNV : কিন্তু শৌল বলল, “না আজ কাউকে হত্যা কোরো না| প্রভু আজ ইস্রাযেলকে রক্ষা করেছেন!”
KJV : And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for to day the LORD hath wrought salvation in Israel.
YLT : And Saul saith, `There is no man put to death on this day, for to-day hath Jehovah wrought salvation in Israel.`
RV : And Saul said, There shall not a man be put to death this day: for today the LORD hath wrought deliverance in Israel.
RSV : But Saul said, "Not a man shall be put to death this day, for today the LORD has wrought deliverance in Israel."

ERVEN : But Saul said, "No, don't kill anyone today! The Lord saved Israel today."

KJV : And all the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they sacrificed sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
YLT : and all the people go to Gilgal, and cause Saul to reign there before Jehovah in Gilgal, and sacrifice there sacrifices of peace-offerings before Jehovah, and there Saul rejoiceth -- and all the men of Israel -- very greatly.

ERVEN : All the people went to Gilgal. There, in front of the Lord, the people made Saul king. They offered fellowship offerings to the Lord. Saul and all the Israelites had a great celebration.
